Warm water, mild dish washing liquid or other neutral cleaner and a soft, clean cloth are generally all that you'll need to maintain most natural stone surfaces. You may also use granite cleaning solutions sold at any home supply stores or granite suppliers. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids on natural stones. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and dry with a soft cloth. Change the water frequently. Don't use scouring powders or creams - these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.

We always seal granite countertops when installing and this is to be considered a temporary barrier to protect the stone. Annual application of sealant is strongly recommended. Sealers are non-toxic and are safe to use on food-preparation surfaces. Quartz surfaces do not require sealant or any other maintenance.

Floors

Mop interior floors frequently using a clean, non-treated dry dust mop. Mats and area rugs inside and outside the entrance will help minimize sand, dirt and grit that could scratch the floor and do most of the damage to natural stone surfaces due to their abrasiveness. Be sure the underside of the mat or rug is a non-slip surface. Do not use vacuum cleaners that are worn: the metal or plastic attachment or the wheels may scratch the surface.

Bath and other wet surfaces

In the bath or other wet areas, soap scum can be minimized by using a squeegee after each use. To remove soap scum, use a non-acidic soap scum remover or other mild cleaning solutions. Use of ammonia solution may dull the surface of the stone.

Food preparation areas

Granite is a great choice for kitchen counters since it’s scratch and heat resistant, and does not stain if sealed properly. Nonetheless, we recommend using regular cutting boards to cut on – stone may dull your knives. If any spills occur, promptly wipe off with cloth. Do not leave unwrapped food and acidic fruits on the countertops.
